Reparenting Yourself Through Grace

The way we speak to ourselves becomes the background noise our children learn to trust. What if we let the Spirit reframe that soundtrack?

I did not realize how harsh my inner voice was until I heard it come out of my child's mouth. "I never get anything right," she muttered after a small mistake. My heart sank because I knew exactly where she learned that sentence.

Parenting with the Holy Spirit means we are not only guiding our children. We are being invited into our own healing. The Spirit gently surfaces the old scripts — the ones about performance, failure, and not being enough — and offers us a better word: grace.

When I receive grace for myself, I have more of it to give. When I stop punishing myself for being an imperfect parent, I stop punishing my children for being imperfect children. The Holy Spirit does not just fill our homes; He fills the gaps in our own stories.

A gentle prayer

Lord, let me parent from the place of being loved, not the place of having to prove myself. Let my children see in me what it looks like to be held by grace.
